Application Fee
The UW AEGD Application fee is $95 and non-refundable. Please ensure that the application fee is paid by the application deadline.
Supplemental Application
Candidates are also required to submit a supplemental application to be considered for the UW AEGD program. Please submit the supplemental application at the link above.
Resident Selection
- Interviews scored using standardized criteria to assess mission fit.
- Rubrics evaluate key traits: growth mindset, compassion, resilience, and problem-solving.
- Reviewer scores, interview outcomes, and transcripts combined into a final priority score.
- Committee votes to accept, reject, or waitlist candidates
Admissions Committee
- Admissions decisions are made solely within the UW AEGD program.
- Admissions process and criteria undergo annual quality review including analysis of academic deficiencies, attrition rates, standardized test performance, and admission records.
Resident Privileges and Rights
- Residents are part of a UW union housed within UWSOM.
- Protections & Rights: Due process, grievance procedures, safe work conditions, and anti-discrimination policies.

Professional Support
The program encourages continued professional growth by providing support for conference attendance, licensing expenses, and career development opportunities. Residents also complete comprehensive onboarding, including credentialing, orientation, required eLearning, and electronic health record (EHR) training to ensure a successful transition into clinical practice.
Workplace Protections
Residents are afforded the rights and protections outlined in the University of Washington resident union agreement, including due process, grievance procedures, anti-discrimination policies, safe working conditions, and union representation. The program also follows established policies regarding duty hours, scheduling, rest periods, moonlighting, resident promotion, and resignation.
