What are the UW CDE course refund and cancellation policies?
Lecture Courses:
You must inform the CDE office if you wish to cancel a course by the day before the course. If you do not cancel by the day before the course, you will be considered a “No Show”.
For cancellations:
You have two options if you cancel. You can receive a full refund minus a $40 processing fee, plus a $10 fee for each “additional applicant”, or the full amount can be transferred to another CDE course (or courses depending on the amount of the funds transferred) within the same CDE calendar year (September through June). Tuition credit from previous years cannot be applied to courses in the current year. The funds can only be transferred once.
For No Shows:
No refund or funds transfer is available.
Participation Courses:
Refunds for CDE participation courses must be requested at least 14 days prior to the first meeting of a course. All participation courses have a $100 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is necessary to cover the cost of materials that are incurred which are non-refundable to our office. If a cancellation is made less than 14 days before a course, no monetary refund will be given, and the money can not be transferred to another course, unless the CDE office is able to occupy the spot with another participant. Funds, minus the $100 non-refundable deposit, may be transferred to another course within the same CDE calendar year if the request is made 14 days before the course.
Transferring Funds to Another Student:
Before the day of the course, if a registrant wishes to transfer his or her funds to another student, he or she may do so; however, there is a $10 transfer fee and the CDE office must be made aware of this transfer by the day before the course.
Refund Exceptions:
No refund penalty will be charged for last-minute emergencies; however, the CDE office must be contacted by noon on the date of the course to notify them of an emergency case. Either a full refund will be given or the money can be transferred towards another CDE course within the same CDE course year (September – June).
Acts of Nature:
In the event of snow, earthquake or other act of nature, please visit the CDE homepage or call the CDE office and listen to the instructions placed on the voicemail.
If a course is cancelled:
A full refund will be given to all participants registered for the course.
*The CDE office accepts no responsibility for travel expenses or penalties incurred by course registrants in the event that a course is cancelled or revised.
