DR. LAMAR PEARSON, PERIODONTICS CLASS OF 1966

Lamar Pearson
Dr. Lamar Betts Pearson passed away on Feb. 7, 2012, at the age of 82. A memorial service was held on Feb. 11 at the Sanctuary at Southside United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.

Dr. Pearson was born to Julia and Ernest Pearson in 1930 in Jacksonville. He graduated from Landon High School in 1947 and the University of Florida prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A few years after graduating from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis and practicing in Jacksonville, he completed the Graduate Program of Periodontics at the UW. He then returned to Jacksonville for private practice in periodontics.

Dr. Pearson is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan; sons John (Jackie) of Atlanta and Stephen (Renee) of Orlando; grandchildren Nicholas, Morgan, Emily and Jordan; sister Sara Chriss of Jacksonville; brother William (Frances) of Douglasville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mildred and Elizabeth.
