Welcome to our University of Washington School of Dentistry clinics, where we manage all aspects of oral health. Our clinics fall into three main categories:
Dental student clinics: Student dentists, working toward their DDS degree, care for patients under close supervision by experienced faculty dentists. Our students deliver a wide range of preventive and restorative care, including routine exams, cleanings, fillings, bleaching, mouth guards, esthetic treatments, repairing chipped or fractured teeth, root canals, crowns, implants, complete and partial dentures, and more. Treatment requires substantially more time than at a private dental office, because of the need for close faculty monitoring every step along the way. Patients also must receive an initial assessment to be sure that students can successfully manage their care.
Fees vary by procedure, but on average, they are about 40 percent lower than the average for private dentists in the greater Seattle area. Read more about dental student clinics.
Graduate specialty clinics: Graduate specialty dental students, also called residents, deliver care to patients under faculty supervision. These residents have already earned a DDS degree and are studying a dental specialty such as orthodontics, oral surgery or pediatric dentistry.
Our residency programs include every dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association. Because residents have more experience, treatment does not take as long as in our student dental clinics, but requires more time than it would in a private dental office. Our graduate clinic residents provide treatment that might be beyond the technical skills of our pre-doctoral students.
Our graduate specialty clinics also provide treatment for people with unique problems or challenges, including disabilities, medical complications (such as cancer, trauma, or transplant patients), dental phobias, and other unusual dental or medical conditions.
Fees vary by procedure and among clinics, but are about 20 to 25 percent lower than the average for private dentists practicing in the greater Seattle area. Read more about graduate specialty clinics.
UW Dentists faculty practice: Our experienced faculty members provide care for virtually all dental conditions in much the same way as a private dental office. UW faculty dentists are internationally recognized for their expertise in all dimensions of dental care.
Fees are comparable to those of private dentists practicing in the greater Seattle area. Read more about UW Dentists faculty practice.

|Amalgam filling(one surface)||$74||$108||$147|
We also offer a UW Community Dental Plan to Medicaid-eligible adult patients, covering most common procedures. Fees are lower than our regular dental student clinic fees, and discounted as much as 70 to 80 percent from average Seattle-area dental office fees. Adults with a current DSHS Provider One card are eligible. Call 206.616.6996 for details. Note: This is not free or subsidized care. As with all of our clinical services, payment is due at the time of treatment.
Which clinic is right for you? That depends on your needs – and, in some cases, our students’ ability to provide appropriate care in a reasonable time frame. Our goal is to make sure you get excellent and timely care in a compassionate environment. Click on one of the links above to learn more about individual clinical services or to arrange an appointment.
Different clinics may have different requirements for accepting patients. In some cases for our graduate specialty clinics, you may need X-rays and a referral from your private dentist. For additional information, please contact the clinic directly.

Why choose the UW School of Dentistry?
For more than 60 years, the School of Dentistry has been an internationally recognized center of dental education, training and research, with our alumni making up nearly half of all practicing dentists in Washington state. Our clinical care, with more than 74,000 annual patient visits, reflects our mission to comprehensively train exceptional dental clinicians and serve all segments of our community. We offer general dentistry and all dental specialties as well as emergency care. Dentists and physicians all over Washington refer patients to us for specialized or comprehensive care, in programs such as our Oral Medicine Clinical Service, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, or Advanced General Dentistry.
We place a strong emphasis on evidence-based dentistry; one way in which we support it is by coordinating the Northwest PRECEDENT research network of private dentists. We are leaders in finding new and better ways to provide care, with ventures such as our Center for Pediatric Dentistry, a collaboration with Seattle Children’s hospital. Opened in September 2010, the Center is a regional and national center of pediatric oral health care, research and education.
Our clinical care is affordable, with our student clinics and graduate specialty clinics offering fees significantly below the average for private dental offices in the greater Seattle area. We are conveniently located in the Health Sciences Center at the south edge of the University of Washington campus, served by multiple King County Metro Transit, Community Transit and Sound Transit bus routes. Paid parking is available in the UW’s Triangle Garage on Pacific Street or in the “S” parking lot and garage behind the School of Dentistry.
To make the patient experience as smooth as possible, we also offer free translation services in more than 50 languages.
