What is Oral Surgery?

The Oral Surgery Clinic provides the highest quality of surgical care. Senior dental students work in collaboration with, and supervision from, expert oral surgeon faculty members.

Oral Surgery care includes:

  • Tooth removal (extraction)
  • Placement of crowns or dental implants
  • Preparation for denture placement
  • Diagnosis of jaw problems
  • Bone Grafts
  • Biopsy
  • Minor Alveoplasty
  • Minor Tori Removal

How do I become a patient?

The University of Washington Oral Surgery Student Clinic phone hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Appointments require that you obtain an Oral Surgery Student Clinic Referral Form (PDF) from your dentist or physician and bring it with you to your appointment. If you are unable to obtain a referral, please call our Dental Urgent Care Clinic at 206-543-5850. You will be scheduled for a consult and given a referral.

Fees and Insurance

Many oral surgery procedures are covered by medical insurance. To facilitate best coverage, please bring both your medical and dental insurance cards to your appointment. Visit the Fees and Insurance page for more information.

Clinic Location

The Oral Surgery Student Clinic is located in room D-351 of the D-Wing on the third floor of the Health Sciences Center, which is on the WEST side of the University of Washington Medical Center. Please visit our Location and Directions page for directions, transit, and parking information.

John Richard Evans, DDS

Dr. Evans
Dr. John Evans is Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an attending surgeon at University Hospital and University of Washington.

Emergency Care

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the clinic during business hours at 206-685-3591 and leave one voicemail with your name, date of birth, phone number and message for us to get back to you as soon as possible. For urgent issues after hours, weekends and holidays, please call at the University of Washington Medical Center at 206-598-6190 and ask for the Dental Resident on call to be paged. They will return your call when they are available.  If you feel like you are having a true emergency, call 911.
