Dr. Andy Marashi, who previously held the position of Fourth-Year Clinic Director, was recently appointed as the UW School of Dentistry Predoctoral Clinic Director.

With the establishment of the Group Practice Model for predoctoral students, merging third- and fourth-year students in clinic, Dr. Marashi’s new role expands his responsibilities to include all students in the D2 and D3 clinics.
“Our mission is to train the most competent comprehensive dentists,” said Dr. Marashi. “The Group practices are designed to emphasize the comprehensive care model of dental care throughout the clinical training years of our predoctoral students. We will use the Group Practice dashboards to closely monitor timeliness and quality of care for our patients as well as the clinical training progress for our dental students. This will also ensure that students observe outcomes of the overall care they provide for their patients to make them even more excited about the profession they have chosen.”

In his role as Predoctoral Clinic Director, Dr. Marashi will ensure a smooth transition of students from pre-clinical training to the UW School of Dentistry clinics, ensuring that UWSOD students have all the tools and the expertise they need to provide the best possible patient care.
Dr. Marashi will work closely with the Office of Clinical Services (OCS) to optimize clinic operations and patient care in the D2/D3 clinic. He will advise on clinic space utilization, student scheduling and other day-to-day operational matters that affect both patient care and student learning.
Additionally, Dr. Marashi will collaborate with Group Practice Leaders and clinical course directors to ensure student progress through the third- and fourth-year clinical curriculum. “We have a wonderful team at UW School of Dentistry, whose members are directly responsible for the smooth operation of our clinics, and I will act as a liaison between our students, faculty and staff to ensure continuity of patient care,” he said.
Dr. Marashi will continue to serve in his current roles as Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program and Co-Director of the IDDS program, in addition to serving as the primary attending faculty for the School’s Welcome Clinic.
