Rural and Underserved Opportunities Program
Even before becoming practicing clinicians in their third year, students have a chance to experience dentistry in a community setting through RUOP. The four-week program takes place in the summer after first year and gives students a pre-clinical training opportunity at rural and underserved community dental clinic sites.
Students perform caries risk assessments, apply fluoride varnish, take alginate impressions, mount X-rays, perform basic dental charting and more. Applications for the program must be made to the School of Dentistry Outreach Manager by the end of winter quarter in first year. Find out more
