- Students must have had at least one 4th year Geriatrics rotation in DENTGP 653, 663, or 673, Treatment of Patients with Special Needs 1, 2 or 3.
Course Overview
This course will provide students with additional clinical experience in comprehensive dental treatment of medically compromised and dentally complex geriatric patients.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Perform saliva tests, give nutritional counseling, prescribe and recommend preventive care products applicable for each patient treated.
- Diagnose, treatment plan and treat community dwelling elderly patient from caries- and periodontitis risk perspective.
- Predict outcome for treatment provided
