Course Overview

This course is an introductory component of the overall practice management thread. The practice management thread will define content over the entire four years of the curriculum. This course introduces specific strands and filaments within the practice management thread. All of the 30 filaments within the thread will be covered in the course of the two years of this specific course offering. The mode of delivery of the course is primarily through a Tuesday morning interactive seminar in the form of a “talk show”.  Students will meet every other week, for a total of 5 sessions.

Learning Objectives

The student who successfully completes this course will be able to:

  1. Describe the elements of practice management
  2. Describe the various types of dental benefit plans
  3. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of various practice ownership models
  4. Describe and analyze the components of an effective personal plan for financial planning.
