Course Overview

In this course, students become proficient in the basic principles of the designs of removable partial dentures. The course is comprised of a series of lectures and laboratory exercises. No clinic sessions are included.

Learning Objectives

The student who successfully completes this course will be able to:

  1. Describe the Kennedy classification of partially edentulous arches.
  2. Explain the composition of a removable partial denture and the roles of different components.
  3. Describe the basic designs of removable partial dentures.
  4. Explain other advanced designs such as dual path RPDs and swing-lock RPDs.
