Course Description

Attendees will examine how AI technologies can support individualized patient recommendations by analyzing patient-specific risk factors and oral health needs while maintaining a strong foundation in clinical judgment. During the course, attendees will develop, evaluate, and refine AI-generated recommendations for accuracy, relevance, and alignment with current evidence-based dental hygiene practices. Participants will also ensure that recommendations meet professional standards and promote optimal patient outcomes. By the end of the course, attendees will be prepared to responsibly and effectively incorporate AI tools into the development of individualized oral hygiene plans.

Course Objectives

As a result of attending this webinar, you will be able to:

  • Describe how artificial intelligence can support individualized oral hygiene planning.
  • Identify patient-specific risk factors that influence preventive oral care.
  • Construct effective AI prompts to generate patient-centered oral hygiene plans.
  • Critically evaluate and modify AI-generated recommendations for clinical accuracy and evidence based dental hygiene practice.

Instructors

Kandyce M. A’see is a Professor of Dental Hygiene at Augusta University, where she serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the senior dental hygiene students and the course director for Theory and Practice of Dental Hygiene and Practice Management and Ethics of Dental Hygiene. She received her Bachelor of Science of Professional Biology from South Carolina State University, and her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene as well as her Master of Science in Allied Health from the Medical College of Georgia. In addition, Kandyce earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Practices from the University of North Georgia. Kandyce worked in private practice 3 years prior to joining the Dental Hygiene Faculty in 2010.

Kathleen Cantey worked as a Registered Dental Hygienist in private practice for 10 years. Ms. Cantey joined the Augusta University DH faculty in 2013. She obtained a BS in Dental Hygiene from the Medical College of Georgia and an M.Ed. in Adult Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development from the University of Georgia. Her current teaching roles include Clinical Education, Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice I & II, and the Dental Hygiene Re-entry Course
