Course Description
The lecture is of two parts: the first part will cover the oral manifestations of systemic diseases and conditions this includes but not limited to nutritional, hematologic, metabolic, endocrine, gastro-intestinal, connective tissue, granulomatous, infectious, cutaneous, and drug induced manifestations. The second part of the lecture will cover the possible hypotheses of correlation between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and conditions and literature yet available.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the oral manifestations of systemic conditions
- The correlation of periodontal disease and systemic conditions.
Instructor
Dr. Husham Edani is full-time faculty in Periodontics and Oral surgery departments at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He received his dental degree in Baghdad, Iraq, then completed his oral surgery training at the University of Paris VII in France. Also in France, he completed a PhD at the same institution, and then a Fellowship of Maxilla-facial Prosthesis at the University of Paris V. He then completed the Periodontics residency program at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
