Course Description
The products and patterns of tobacco use are changing rapidly. The dental team is likely to encounter patients who use or have questions about alternative tobacco products, like electronic cigarettes (vaping) and cannabis. Dental professionals must understand the health implications of non-cigarette products to provide proper treatment and counseling. Brief, simple, and effective strategies can increase patients’ motivation to quit and achieve a tobacco-free future.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the features and current-use trends of emerging tobacco and nicotine products, including electronic cigarettes
- Understand the oral and overall health implications of e-cigarettes, cannabis, and other tobacco products
