Course Description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of airway and sleep-related breathing disorders, emphasizing their significance in both oral and systemic health. Participants will examine current research and evolving clinical practices that shape diagnosis and treatment in this rapidly advancing field. Through case discussions and evidence-based insights, the course will highlight the connection between airway dysfunction, dental findings, and systemic disease. Attendees will learn innovative strategies and therapeutic approaches to improve airway and sleep health for their patients and themselves. The course will also focus on building effective interdisciplinary collaborations among dental, medical, and allied health professionals to support comprehensive patient care and long-term wellness.

Course Objectives

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to apply Criteria and Best Practices in the following Clinical Scenarios:

  • Improve their understanding on basic principles and accuracy determining factors of intraoral scanning.
  • Maximize scanning efficiency and accuracy by applying optimal scanning strategies and techniques for various clinical situations.
  • Expand the scope of clinical applications for scanning technologies and know when and when not to use the technology.

Instructor

Hongseok An is currently Associate Professor in Department of Restorative Dentistry, Oregon Health & Science University. He received DDS from Seoul National University in Korea. He completed his prosthodontic residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he received his Certificate in Prosthodontics and MSD. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists.

Dr. An has severed as an editorial board member of Journal of Prosthodontics as well as Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He has authored many scientific articles and book chapters related to digital dentistry. His lectures mainly focus on digital dentistry, implant dentistry and esthetic/full mouth reconstruction.
