Course Description
The presentation will include the factors that affect the prognosis of endodontically treated teeth, and principles of foundation restorations to increase predictability of restoring endodontically treated teeth. A plethora of post systems are available on the market, which often leads to confusion or reliance on manufacturer’s advertising when choosing a post system. Details of post design will be presented including the performance, physical properties and surface design.
Course Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Weigh the cost vs. benefit of salvaging questionable teeth.
- Restore endodontically treated teeth with confidence.
- Understand the factors that influence prognosis of an endodontically treated tooth.
- Choose a post system and technique for endodontically treated teeth.
Instructor
Dr. DiPede received his DMD degree in 1990, and a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 1991 both from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. After private general practice, he earned a certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995, and then completed a subspecialty fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Dental Oncology at Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. DiPede remained in Manhattan, in full-time private practice limited to Prosthodontics, prior to entering academics. He has served as course director for multiple courses; Vice Department Chair; Interim Department Chair; and Program Director of Postgraduate Prosthodontics. Dr. DiPede is currently Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Education, and Program Director of the Advanced Prosthodontics program at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. Dr. DiPede is a Board Certified Prosthodontist, Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics; a Fellow of American College of Prosthodontists; and a Member International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation.
