DR. EDWARD I. CARDIFF, DDS CLASS OF 1968, GPR CLASS OF 1969 

Dr. Edward CardiffDr. Edward Ira Cardiff died on Sept. 1, 2021 in Edmonds, Wash., surrounded by his children, Don and Diana. He was 80.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1941 in Yakima, Wash., to Ed and Ethel Cardiff. He grew up in Edmonds and resided there for 50 years. He enjoyed his own beautiful family with his first wife of 25 years, Gladys.

Dr. Cardiff had a successful dental practice in Edmonds for 40 years. He was a highly skilled, gentle, kind dentist with loyal patients. He enjoyed mentoring new dental students, volunteering at the UW (his alma mater), and being a member of the American Dental Association.

Throughout his life he enjoyed reading science and science fiction (following in great detail the work of NASA), astronomy, discussing quantum physics, marine biology, scuba diving, tinkering with electronics, racing cars (MGBs) with his brothers, hiking, biking, river rafting, mushroom hunting (he was president of the Snohomish Mycological Society), disco dancing, singing, photography, bartending, video games, cool technology, watching movies, playing cribbage, boating (he was commodore at the Edmonds Yacht Club), attending theater and dance performances, golf, pets, cooking, and hosting holiday gatherings. Later in life he discovered a huge passion for glass blowing, and his work was represented in galleries in Edmonds and Hawaii.

Dr. Cardiff was preceded in death by his second wife, Sharon Kahley. He was embraced as part of her family, and they loved him dearly. (Edmonds Beacon)
