UW School of Dentistry
Undergraduate Restorative Dentistry Clinic Description
The undergraduate restorative dentistry clinic is the largest in the School of Dentistry, and serves patients whose dental health care needs require operative dentistry (fillings), fixed prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, implants), removable prosthodontics (dentures), and esthetics related procedures such as bleaching. It is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the D-wing in the School of Dentistry. Students are assigned to the Restorative Dentistry Clinic more than into any other department. It is where 3rd and 4th year dental students conduct a major portion of their general dentistry training. In most cases, the clinic serves as the area where comprehensive treatment planning is conducted and where decisions are made regarding treatment options and cost estimates. It is often the source of referrals to specialty clinics. Faculty supervision is provided by full-time faculty, as well as by a large complement of part-time affiliate faculty drawn from the community. Depending upon the complexity of a treatment plans presented, not all patients can be treated in the undergraduate clinic. In these cases, patients are referred to the graduate clinic or faculty practice clinic.
Patients who are scheduled with a student dentist to receive denture (posthypnotic) services such as complete dentures and removable partial dentures will be seen in the D-Wing on either the second or third level depending on the location of the assigned student’s treatment area.
Proceed to the Patient Waiting Area in either Room D-351 on the third level, or Room D-251 on on the second floor and let the receptionist know you have arrived. If you happen to go to the wrong level, the receptionist will direct you to the correct waiting area.
To find the clinics, enter the front of the Health Sciences Center and proceed to the B-Wing as shown here and take the walkway indicated by the red arrows to the D-Wing. Report to the receptionist in Room D-351 if your student is located on the third level, or go down the elevator to the second level and report to the receptionist in Room D-251 as shown below.
