Dr. Dogan holds a DDS (1991) from Ankara University Dental School in Turkey. He is also the recipient of a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (1998) degree from the Medical University of Hannover in Germany. Dr. Dogan completed his prosthodontics postgraduate training in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington in 2012.

Dr. Dogan has a dental background in pre-, and clinical teaching and is currently instructing several classes including Restorative Dentistry, Dental Anatomy and Occlusion, and Functional Occlusion. He is also an implant advisor in Restorative Dentistry for the Undergraduate Clinic, and supervises clinical graduate students in prosthodontics and third- and fourth-year dental students in restorative dentistry.

Dr. Dogan directs the DENTCL 631 Prosthodontics Clerkship program for the third year dental students.

Dr. Dogan is actively participating in clinical practice and carrying out clinical research. His research focuses on developing new treatments towards novel dental health care, in which Dr. Dogan is in a unique position to direct experimental test groups and formulation of remineralization for relevance to clinical applications. Based on his background as a clinician with the expertise of basic sciences in cell culturing and bacterial tests with different dental materials, Dr. Dogan leads the establishment of new formulations and selection of in-use treatments for comparison to the remineralization protocols developed. He is also focusing on in vivo mineralization and characterization of the remineralized tissues. Dr. Dogan supervises dental students and graduate students in research.

Dr. Dogan has held faculty appointments as an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of Hannover Dental School in 2000 and 2001. He maintains memberships in the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the German Society of Dental Oral and Craniomandibular Sciences (DGZMK) and the German Society of Dental Implantology (DGI). He holds dental licenses in Germany and the state of Washington . He was awarded the Best Dissertation of 1998 award by the German Society of Periodontology.

Dr. Dogan’s personal interests include classical and world music, movies, and outdoor activities (especially running, hiking, biking, and snowshoeing).
