Endodontic Clinic

Course Overview
Students perform diagnosis, treatment planning, and endodontic therapy for minimal difficulty level cases within the scope of general dentistry. Learning experiences include assisting peers and graduate students in patient care and completing clinical simulation exercises to strengthen endodontic skills.
Learning Objectives
The student who successfully completes this course will be able to:
- Perform endodontic examination and diagnostic testing procedures.
- Diagnose pathoses of endodontic origin using correct pulpal and periapical diagnostic terminology.
- Formulate treatment plans for the endodontic care of patients, including emergency and definitive treatment plans.
- Provide emergency endodontic treatment, when indicated; e.g., pulpal debridement or other palliative treatments.
- Perform root canal therapy of minimal difficulty level.
- Provide vital pulp therapy, when indicated.
- Prescribe appropriate antibiotics and analgesics, when indicated.
- Evaluate endodontic case prognosis and outcomes.
- Practice within a general dentist’s scope of practice in an ethical and professional manner.
