Course Description:

Dangers in the dental office may not be obvious. Local anesthetic, sedation, lack of medical information, and lack of medical knowledge can lead to unexpected outcomes. We will explore what many dentists have forgotten or never knew. The exploration will be by case examples, a review of best practices, and a review of scientific literature. This knowledge is increasingly relevant in a time when patients are demanding more complex treatment, patients that want complex treatment are older, the population is aging, and expectations are higher.

Course Objectives:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:

  • Avoid bad outcomes with local anesthesia.
  • Avoid bad outcomes with mild sedation.
  • Avoid bad outcomes with moderate sedation.
  • Use experiences learned in multiple narrative situations to divert from bad outcomes.
