Volunteering
University of Washington dental students give generously of their time and services every year to help bring oral health care and information to community members who need it the most. Much of the activity is coordinated through the School of Dentistry’s Office of Educational Partnerships and Diversity.
Students volunteer for activities such as the 45th Street Clinic for homeless teens, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, the Rainier Vista Boys and Girls Club outreach, Students in the Community, Husky Smiles, the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program and Latina Women’s Health Fair. Students visit high school and college career fairs to discuss careers in dentistry. They also host Washington state high-schoolers students at “dental camps,” during which the campers do dental wax-ups in the D-1 Simulation Laboratory and learn about the dental profession.
