Course Overview
This elective course will employ small group discussions and student presentations/literature review to achieve our objectives. The course will provide an overview of use of lasers especially in the discipline of Restorative Dentistry.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Build confidence and clinical skill sets basic to successful laser implementation
- Understand how to apply the two distinct types of laser use: surgical and healing
- Understand laser device types, settings and essential elements
- Recognize key elements of OSHA-enforced laser safety
- Identify laser treatments that will improve practice income and broaden patient treatment options
- Understand laser tissue interaction, power settings, and various techniques to obtain optimal clinical outcomes
