Course Overview

Dental students deepen their understanding of the roles of members of the healthcare team, by communicating and collaborating with other healthcare professional students and practitioners in the provision of patient care and education.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the roles of other members of the healthcare team.
  2. Identify when consultation is required for the optimal provision of patient care.
  3. Articulate examples of patient coordination with other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Integrate recommended medical treatment into the dental treatment plan.
  5. Communicate and collaborate with other members of the health care team to facilitate the provision of health care.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with other members of the health care team to optimize the performance of the health care system, thus improving the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction).
