WSDA Mentor Program
Students who would like an experienced professional prospective on dentistry and the challenges of dental school have a readily accessible resource: the Washington State Dental Association’s mentor program.
Students are matched with a WSDA member dentist (often a UW dental graduate) who can offer helpful advice and perspective throughout the year. At the School’s annual mentor reception (the 2013 event is scheduled for Nov. 20 at the UW’s Burke Museum), first-year students can meet their mentors for the first time, while other students can reconnect with their mentors. Students and mentors are not bound by any fixed schedule, and can meet as often and in any fashion they like. Some prefer contact mostly by phone and e-mail, while others meet more frequently, often at the mentor’s office. Some students have even gone on to join their mentor’s practice after graduation.
The program is free and open to all pre-doctoral students. Please fill out this form to RSVP for the 2013 reception. The WSDA also has a handy online form if you would like to request a mentor.
