Dr. Stewart received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington in Dental Hygiene (1972), and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Washington (1982). She practiced Dental Hygiene for six years before enrolling in the DDS program. She then went to Spokane where she was in private practice for twenty-five years.

After twenty-five years of operating her own private dental practice, Dr. Stewart relocated to Seattle. She started her career at the UW by volunteering several times a week in the clinic and the lab before being hired by the RIDE Program and the Restorative Department. She serves as a liaison between these two departments to oversee that the students complete all requirements and competencies before going out on their four month RIDE rotations. She teaches on the Clinical floor three times a week and one day in the Dental Simulation Laboratory.
Dr. Stewart’s personal interests include family activities, travel, reading, gardening, quilting, spending time at her cabin on Priest Lake, Idaho, snow skiing.
