Graduate Prosthodontic Clinic

The Graduate Prosthodontic Clinic offers prosthodontic treatment at reduced fees to patients who provide a good teaching experience for the students.

Treatment and Services

  • Dental implant supported bridges, crowns and full or partial dentures.
  • Full-mouth rehabilitation (combining treatments to repair or rebuild your smile).
  • Replacement of missing teeth to maintain chewing function and appearance.

How do I become a Patient at the Graduate Prosthodontic Clinic?

Appointments are by referral only.  Outside dental practitioners can fax a referral to 206-543-7783, the Department of Restorative Dentistry with a cover letter stating referral to Graduate Prosthodontic Clinic.

Who will provide my prosthodontic care?

The Department of Prosthodontics accepts 3 graduate students each year for its 3-year program of advanced training.  These students have already completed dental school, then chosen to specialize in Prosthodontics.  They are enrolled in an intensive program of classroom and clinical training that leads to a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry Degree.

What to expect?

  • You will have an initial screening with one of our faculty, and if your treatment is suitable for our teaching clinic, you will be assigned to one of our graduate students.
  • Your assigned student will call you to make your first appointment, Comprehensive Exam & Diagnostic Casts (models). The fee for this appointment is $219.00 and is subject to change.
  • Radiographs (x-rays, if needed) will be taken in the Radiology Department (separate fees will be charged).
  • After all of the data are collected, your student will consult with his/her faculty. If your case is suitable for our teaching clinic, your student will develop, present and discuss treatment options with you.
  • If your case is not appropriate for our teaching clinic, you will still receive a brief explanation of your dental problems as well as options for seeking care in the School of Dentistry pre-doctoral clinic, the faculty practice or an outside practice.
  • In general, treatment will take longer to complete at the School of Dentistry teaching clinics than an outside private practice.

Fees and Insurance

Our fees are generally much less than an outside private specialist.  To maintain lower cost, we are not contracted with any insurance companies.  We are a self-pay clinic (out of pocket) and patients are set up on contracts to cover their treatment cost.  As a courtesy, the School of Dentistry Patient Billing Services will submit a claim to your insurance company when treatment is completed.  Since we are not contracted, the payment will be sent directly to you.
