Drug Therapeutics and Internal Medicine in Dentistry

This course is offered to students who wish to expand their knowledge concerning drugs utilized in the clinical practice of dentistry and to enhance their medical assessment of patients in private practice. The topics to be discussed will include the use of antibiotics, local anesthetics, anti-anxiety drugs, pain control medications, and prescription writing. Other issues including the development of patient management plans, physician consultations, and problem solving as it applies to the management of medically compromised dental patients. Credit is dependent upon evaluating patient case histories at the end of the course.
