Course Description

Extractions don't need to be unpredictable. With modern technology, exodontia has become not only easier and more predictable but less traumatic as well. Some of the new devices being used are inexpensive while others are quite pricey. They are all competing for the market among general dentists and specialists for faster and better surgery.

Also covered in this course are related procedures, such as socket bone grafting (without company hype); treatment of sinus perforations; alveoplasty; mini-implants; moderate third molar impactions, biopsy procedures, the management of bleeding, swelling, and anxiety; and other topics as time permits.

Course Objectives

As a result of attending this course, participants be better able to:

  • Remove teeth that would otherwise be very difficult to extract.
  • Save bone in the process of tooth removal.
  • Take out teeth more quickly than with more traditional methods.
  • Successfully treat patients taking Coumadin, Plavix, and aspirin.
  • Manage sinus perforations occurring during an extraction.
  • Do predictable socket bone grafting procedures.
  • Be familiar with indications for and the placement of mini implants.
  • Identify patients requiring referral.
  • Do surgery according to modern "standards of care".
